Landscape of Leisure
Historically, sculpture has been central to religious devotion, later transitioning into art pieces for private collections. This evolution raises compelling questions: how might sculpture continue to evolve and what roles could it serve in our daily lives today?
In the Landscape of Leisure, Vivian explores these possibilities through creating a sculptural, modular teaware. Cups rest naturally on a base that may connect to a vase, while an incense holder extends seamlessly from the same form. Each piece can stand alone as a functional object or exist as part of a harmonious ensemble, inviting interaction and exploration.
To celebrate the occasion of the Vernissage, visitors are invited to engage with the work not merely as passive observers but as users. They are welcome to drink from the cups and experience the ensemble’s interplay of form, function, and purpose. This Landscape of Leisure serves as both a foundation and a starting point. Through the addition of new objects, the ensemble continues to evolve, fostering dialogue between sculpture, utility, and our everyday rituals.
